Welcome to the Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources

 

Dear JSAHR Colleagues and Visitors,

Welcome to the Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources (JSAHR) website. It is a privilege and an honor to serve as leader of this distinguished Society for Human Resource (SHRM) affiliated chapter. The success of JSAHR is reflective of the collective efforts of our past and present gifted members. The seeds for this chapter’s legacy were planted over 40 years ago with a commitment to serving local human resource professionals. Today, we continue honoring our mission statement through knowledge sharing, supporting HR practitioners and the community, networking and promoting our profession.

As a chapter we recognize the demands and challenges facing organizations from a human capital perspective. At the same time the possibilities to positively impact our membership directly and the lives these professionals support are endless. Truly this is an exciting time to be part of our profession. We are in the midst of a period SHRM has referred to as the “Decade of Human Capital.” As reflected by the lighthouse in our logo, we strive to be a beacon of hope and inspiration for the Monmouth and Ocean County community. And yet our impact stretches beyond these county lines. We continually collaborate with other chapters throughout the state on HR initiatives that impact our membership .

The milestones and accomplishments of this chapter are noteworthy. These achievements could not have been attained without the guidance of our previous presidents as well as current and past board members. Our commitment to serving the community in the past year was reflected in the following recognition we received as a chapter:

  • For the third consecutive year we received the SHRM Foundation Chapter Champion award. This recognition is for our fundraising efforts to address inclusion issues, scholarships, and HR professionals making a difference in their local communities.
  • Also for the third consecutive year we received SHRM Learning System Champion award. This acknowledgement was for our chapter’s efforts to elevate the HR profession through professional development and HR knowledge among members, gained from SHRM’s certifications.
  • In its inaugural offering, we were honored recipients of the 2016 SHRM EXCEL PLATINUM CHAPTER AWARD  – the highest level of recognition granted to SHRM affiliates. The award recognizes accomplishments and strategic activities and initiatives that enhance the human resources profession.

Ultimately, we realize the success of JSAHR would not be possible without your ongoing commitment. Time is a valuable commodity. We appreciate the trust you place in us as a resource for your continued professional growth. We are humbled that members travel across the state to attend our meetings. We are inspired that personal and professional friendships have flourished as a result of connections through our chapter. We believe this could only have been accomplished with the culture you have helped to create.

As we embark on this new program year our focus will be on the following goals. I am asking you to consider how you can share your talents to help us not only be All In, but to Play Full Out in pursuing these strategic initiatives:

1.  Promoting the JSAHR Chapter

  • Finding opportunities to deepen organizations understanding of the value we bring as HR professionals.

2.  Membership Growth

  • Continue to grow both JSAHR and SHRM membership while maintaining our culture, values and commitment to professional development.

3.  Succession Planning

  • Identifying additional chapter members to join our committees and develop future JSAHR leaders
  • Engaging Young Professionals to understand the significance of joining JSAHR and SHRM
  • Addressing Volunteer Challenges

4.  Mission/Vision/Values Recalibration

  • As we move forward, assess if our current statements need to be revised to provide our membership the best opportunity to be successful in their professional endeavors.
