JSAHR Certification Scholarship

    Program Name:  Building Professional Success Scholarship

    The Program: As part of its on-going commitment to serve the HR Professional and advance the professional development of its members, the Jersey Shore Association of Human Resources (JSAHR) will sponsor the Building Professional Success Scholarship Program. One scholarship, not to exceed $500, will be provided per semester to help defray the expenses associated with the Professional Human Resources (PHR) and/or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification process. One scholarship will be awarded per semester; for a total of two per calendar year.

    Eligibility - The eligibility requirements for the Scholarship include the following:

    • JSAHR Member for at least two (2) consecutive years.
    • SHRM Member for at least two (2) consecutive years.
    • At least two (2) years of experience within the HR profession.

    Award -  The award will consist of the following:

    • Total value of the JSAHR Scholarship is not to exceed $500 and will be applied to (first) the cost of the study group and (b) balance towards a set of study books.
    • Recipients need to take either the PHR or SPHR exam within three months of completing the Study Group Program.
    • Recipients who leave the Study Group Program before the end of the semester will be required to return the SHRM Learning System Books.
    • Public recognition of the recipient and presentation of the check at monthly JSAHR Meeting.
    • Announcement in Monthly Newsletter and Website.

    Application Process

    Each scholarship candidate will successfully complete the JSAHR Scholarship Application Process, highlighted below. Each component of the process must be completed within established timeframes.

    The application process will consist of the following:

    • Completion of JSAHR Scholarship Application Form. (See attached sample)
    • Two letters of recommendation.
    • Current resume.
    • Essay on How I Positively Impact the HR Field. Not to exceed three (3) typed, double-spaced, 8 ½ x 11 pages.
    • Deadline for Submitting Applications will be:
      • For Spring Semester: November 1
      • For Fall Semester: June 1

    Selection Process -  Criteria

    The following criteria will be utilized in evaluating and selecting the recipients of the JSAHR Certification Scholarship:

    • JSAHR Member for at least two (2) consecutive years.
    • SHRM Member for at least two (2) consecutive years.
    • At least two (2) years of experience within the HR profession.
    • HR career plans.
    • Volunteer Activity with JSAHR.
    • Recommendation.
    • Essay Response.

    Committee

    Three JSAHR Members will serve on the Scholarship Selection Committee. Scholarship Selection Committee Members are ineligible for scholarships.

    • Decisions: All decisions of the Scholarship Selection Committee will be deemed final.
    • Notification: All applicants will be notified in writing/email of the Committee’s decision.
    • Payment of Scholarship: The Scholarship recipient will receive the payment at a meeting prior to the start of that seasons' study group.

    Modification/Termination of Scholarship -  The JSAHR Board reserves the right to make revisions to and/or discontinue financial support of the scholarship program at any time.
