President’s Message

Welcome to the Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources website.  As we approach the winter holidays and the start of 2012 I hope that you are ready for another great programming year.  As we move forward it is important to take some time and think about how we want to grow and develop as Human Resources professionals.

The Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources (JSAHR) and the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) are committed to helping you grow in the profession.  All of the monthly JSAHR meetings are approved for HRCI continuing educational credits.  Our Spring and Fall study groups help to prepare members for the PHR and SPHR examinations.  These certifications are recognized worldwide as representing the highest standards of Human Resources professionalism.

SHRM continues to provide a wide variety of conferences and seminars to help you develop.  The Garden State SHRM Conference holds an annual conference in October and in 2011 moved to the Atlantic City Convention Center.  This is a great way to network with other professionals and gain additional knowledge and skills in a fun and interactive venue.

In addition, JSAHR dedicated volunteer leaders work behind the scenes to further the goals of the organization and meet the needs of our members.  Serving on a JSAHR committee offers you an opportunity to further develop your leadership skills while giving back to your profession and the community.

Our ability to serve HR professionals like you, and advance our profession is dependent on the collective talents and unique perspectives of all of our volunteer members. I invite you to take the next step, no matter how big or small, to increase your level of involvement in our Chapter.

If you haven't formally joined our Chapter, please take that step by contacting Koleen Singerline, Membership Chair, or Kathi Evans, our Chapter Administrator. If you have not attended a meeting in awhile, we encourage you to come back, we miss your perspective, and I am confident you will reap the rewards of the program content and your HR colleagues. If you are contemplating serving on a committee or volunteering in some capacity, consider the amount of time you can commit and talk to a member of our Board about getting involved.

Our Chapter benefits from your individual perspective. We really do NEED you! Whatever your current position, I ask you to take that next step, no matter how big or small, and watch what a difference you can make.
