Dear JSAHR Friends & Colleagues:
We have been extremely busy this year and I want to thank our board members and committee chairs for their total commitment to their crucial roles as team leaders. Our Chapter is very fortunate to have such a group of talented individuals who are so dedicated and engaged in promoting the Human Resources profession.
I also want to thank our members for contributing to one of JSAHR’s major headline events of 2016. This Chapter has again been awarded the SHRM EXCEL GOLD AWARD. Without your hard work and dedication, our Chapter would not have been able to achieve this prestigious award.
The HR profession continues to evolve as we play a more strategic role in the business world. As our members become more involved as team partners in the business community, it is our goal to assist you in whatever stage you are in your career – from recent graduates to senior executives and every step in between – by offering certifications, connections, seminars, webinars, workshops, networking and transition counseling. Our goal is to help you succeed in every stage of your HR journey.
This year’s GSC-SHRM Conference & Expo, will be held on September 25th-27th, 2016 in Atlantic City,and will mark the 25th Silver Anniversary of this important event. Some of the highlights of this special conference will include well-known keynote speakers, presentations on critical issues such as high performance, leadership and gender, helping others to achieve their goals, organizational strategy, project management, HR initiatives, and a panel discussion with CHRO’s from a variety of organizations. We hope to see you there!
The JSAHR is also celebrating our “Ruby Red” 40thAnniversary this year, and we will be providing more information to you soon. We will be emphasizing similar important issues in our own 2016-2017 agenda in order to stay current and attract new members – including young professionals who have been in the work force for less than eight years.
At this point I am setting a personal challenge for all of our members. We are asking you to maximize the value of your membership not only by attending our monthly seminars, but also by taking the following important action:
1) We want each of you to recruit at least one new member. Please think of your co-workers, associates, friends or relatives who could benefit from JSAHR membership.
2) Please consider joining one of our many fine Committees such as Membership, Programming, Diversity & Inclusion, Communications or some other excellent committee.
3) Please connect with your JSAHR peers through our Social Media Channels. Join us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn (see below) to engage with other members, keep up with the latest Chapter news and contribute to conversations about our changing HR profession. And please look at the JSAHR web site often at:www.jsahr.shrm.org as you can always find something of special interest there that can benefit you as an HR professional.
If you are new to our Chapter, welcome. If you have not yet joined or have not attended a meeting, then we invite you to be a part of our JSAHR family. Our Chapter is known for its friendly atmosphere and interactive style. Each person brings THEIR own insight to our group, and we are all much better for it.
It is a privilege to work with such a dynamic and dedicated team. We are all working very hard to ensure a world-class member experience and to support our Chapter in building future Human Resources leaders, one member at a time.
